Are you HEDIS Compliant? Find out how the OsteoGram can help you comply with the latest measures of the NCQA.

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recently released HEDIS 2004, a substantially expanded version of the tool currently used throughout the health care industry to measure health plan performance. The proposed measurement set includes 11 new performance measures that address health issues affecting tens of millions of Americans. Osteoporosis is one of the new measures, since the costs associated with this treatable disease exceed $16 billion annually in the U.S.

Medical facilities are looking for cost-effective means to measure bone mineral density (BMD), since current methods involve expensive equipment that is often located off-site and specially trained staff that is not available 24/7. The OsteoGram is an accurate and precise method to screen, diagnose and monitor osteoporosis through a combination of high technology software and x-ray technology. First utilized by Merck and Co. during the clinical trials of Fosamax, the OsteoGram is FDA cleared and supported by many peer-reviewed publications. The OsteoGram can be easily installed at a point-of-care, and it functions with either film-based or digital x-ray equipment. The OsteoGram can even be installed on a workstation that is connected to your radiology PACS network. Naturally the CPT code for the OsteoGram technology is approved by HEDIS.
